On a new-estate block the backyard is often still a work in progress — that's fine. We need a firm, level spot for the spit and a bit of room for serving tables. If the garden isn't ready, the driveway or a nearby park can work too.
For the semi-rural properties around Wanneroo, Carabooda and Neerabup there's usually plenty of space, which makes a stretch tent and long tables an easy way to seat everyone for a long lunch.
